The projects include installing new infrastructure for Christmas lights and garlands on the Killacourt, as well as dedicated infrastructure for a town Christmas Tree, helping to attract more people into the town centre during the winter season. Alongside this, essential behind-the-scenes infrastructure work is being delivered, such as electrical upgrades, a points survey, catenary wire testing and a feasibility report to extend future festival lighting. This groundwork paves the way for future lighting schemes that will brighten the high street and improve safety after dark.
A new log cabin-style structure will be introduced on the Killacourt to support a much-needed changing area for performers during community events making the space more usable throughout the year.
Enhanced CCTV coverage on the Killacourt will also improve safety and ensure the area can be enjoyed confidently by residents and visitors.
As part of a joint approach to placemaking, the project also includes planning for light design on the Killacourt and works alongside Newquay BID’s ongoing programme of murals and colourful overhead street banners, helping to celebrate creativity and add vibrancy to the town.
Stay tuned for more updates as we head toward the Christmas Festival!
