With a substantial investment of £200,000, this expansion is set to enhance the skatepark experience for all its users, thanks to the contributions from Newquay Town Council, the Boardmasters Foundation, and Cornwall Council’s Community Infrastructure Levy Fund.

The primary goal of this new phase is to provide an area tailored specifically for the younger generation and novice skaters. Aptly named the ‘Nursery Slope,’ this section of the skatepark will serve as a safe and welcoming space for beginners to develop their skills before progressing to the more challenging features of the park.

Concrete Waves Phase 2 will complement the existing world-class design of the skatepark, which caters to experienced riders. The decision to expand was driven by a desire to include a broader demographic of users and ensure that no one is left behind in experiencing the joy of skateboarding, scootering and BMXing.

Latest Update on Concrete Waves Phase Two

Concrete Waves Skatepark, a beloved hub for skateboarders and action sports enthusiasts, is gearing up for a thrilling expansion project, thanks to a joint effort by Newquay Town Council, Boardmasters Foundation, and Cornwall Council. This £200,000 initiative aims to enhance the skatepark’s facilities, providing a new area specifically designed for beginners of all ages to learn, develop, and hone their skills before venturing into the more challenging aspects of the park.

The project, set to commence early in the New Year, is a testament to the commitment of Newquay Town Council to promote recreational opportunities for residents and visitors alike. The expansion will not only elevate the skatepark’s appeal but also contribute to the growth of skateboarding as a sport in the region.

As part of the enabling works required for the expansion, some non-native trees adjacent to the footpath near the park will be removed. Treveth Holdings Ltd, the company developing the parcel of land next to the skatepark, is collaborating with Newquay Town Council to ensure that this tree removal process is compensated through a comprehensive tree replacement program. A row of trees will be planted at the bank at the back of the park, guaranteeing no net loss in tree canopy in the long term.
